Description

Captain Mike McFarland is a fishing guide on Lake Fork who specializes in largemouth bass. Mike's fished for bass his whole life, but he feels a true Lake Fork fishing expert never stops learning. He's fished with his father since we was 4 years old and started his own bass club when he was 13. At the time, he had no idea this would turn into something very big down the line.

In 2006, Mike was already fishing every tournament that he could possibly drive to from his Arizona home. He competed in everything from small to large tournaments, including the FLW tournaments. He even competed in the U.S. Open on Lake Mead. Later in 2012, he moved and spent every single day fishing on Lake Fork for the entire year! He wanted to learn as much as possible to become a fishing expert on Lake Fork.

Fishing is not only about catching fish, it's about what you can learn along the way. It's about learning the habits of bass, practicing pattern fishing, learning to read the water and so much more. Mike's recorded over 120 bass that were over 10 pounds, yet he still feels there's always something to learn. It's safe to say, Lake Fork Adventures Guide Service has turned a lot of beginners into experts over the years. Anybody can catch fish, but can they pass on the skill to another person?

Lake Fork Adventures Guide Service primarily uses Shimano reels on Reel Time rods. For tackle, they tend to stick to Lake Fork Trophy Lures, Santone Lures & Blue Collar Baits. There are a wide variety of ways to catch bass on Lake Fork but one of my favorites would definitely be top water or the good old fashioned football jig.

Lake Fork is a world famous lake in North East Texas, which is home to 54 of the top 75 largest bass ever caught in Texas. On top of that, Lake Fork holds 8 of the top 10 largest bass ever recorded. One of which holds a state record of 18.6 pounds. I believe a fishing guide should not fish while guiding, especially on a paid guided fishing trip on Lake Fork.
