Hi, I’m Captain Dave, I have been fishing since I was a very young child. In 3rd grade, I would bring salmon heads to class for show and tell. As I grew up, fishing became a huge part of my life. When I was 17, I went commercial fishing in Alaska and ended up fishing there for over 30 years. That inspired me to want to start my own fishing business so I decided guiding was the right thing to do. In 2005, I opened Dave’s Guide Service and operated out of Forks Washington in a drift boat on the Sol Duc River, Hoh River, Bogachiel River and Calawah River.
I had been fishing theses rivers since 1987. In 2009, I bought a 23 foot Jet Boat powered by a 225HP Yamaha engine and expanded my business to the Cowlitz River, Columbia River and many other rivers in Southwest Washington. Since I've fished the Cowlitz River from when I was 12 years old, I have done very well there. I love it so much, that I now live minutes from there. I'm known in the area as the fishing guide with strong guiding experience on the Cowlitz River.
My favorite fish to target are steelhead and king salmon. When we fish for steelhead, we side drift or bobber dog, very hands on techniques. There are many types of fish on the Columbia River, but king salmon is one that l love trolling for. With over 40 years of fishing experience, I'm known as the best fishing guide on Columbia River, Cowlitz River, Lewis River, Hoh River, Skagit River or Sol Duc River.
I use very high end equipment, G Loomis and Edge rods paired with Shimano reels. Whether you’re an experienced or novice angler, I have a fishery for you. Looking forward to fishing with you. I'm a licensed U.S. Coast Guard Captain, insured and have MM credentials. I teach people to fish of all ages. I specialize in family friendly fishing trips on all the rivers I operate on. While I'm truly passionate about fishing and spend all my time guiding, I love to cook for my wife, family and friends in my free time.
